Radish Fries
Radish Fries are Radish Whites cut into thin strips just like potatoes as in french fries and coated with turmeric and other spices as per your requirement and fried. They appear just like french fries.

The taste of these radish fries may differ from potatoes, but looks wise it is the same.

My Husband brought in a lot of this radish, however, the leaves had already faded and we were not able to consume these radish leaves, so what was left was just the radish whites, I thought scrapping it raw would be too pungent to eat as no one prefers much of spicy food at home. So what could I do, boiling the radish was very boring. My mom in law suggested fries. Now I had to think how would I execute making these fries and then struck this idea of coating the radish with turmeric and it turned out that it looked exactly like french fries. So here we are, let us take a look at the steps below to make radish fries.

I shall give you an idea, use it on April Fools Day on any of your close friends or loved ones, you can play a prank by making these fries and serving them as french fries along with tomato ketchup and see their reaction on this ;)

Ingredients

6 Thick Radish Whites(Leaves not used)
Salt as per taste
1 Tsp Turmeric
1 Tsp Red Chili Powder or Garam Masala or Pepper Powder
Oil as per requirement for Shallow Frying

Preparation

1. Cut the thick radish whites into thin strip like french fries by first cutting the radish white into two halves and then cutting thin strips from these halves.

2. Once all the strips of radish have been cut, place these strips into a bowl, sprinkle some salt, pepper powder or garam masala or red chili powder and turmeric as per the measurements mentioned in the ingredients above.

3. Toss the strips of radish so that all the strips are evenly coated with the above ingredients of salt, turmeric and pepper powder or chili powder or garam masala. Keep aside for 15 minutes.

4. In case you find that water has oozed out, drain the water and see that the strips are dry.

5. Take a pan, add oil to the pan, heat the oil on a medium flame. When the oil is hot add the radish strips. We need to shallow fry these radish strips, so add enough oil as per your requirement for shallow frying.

Fry on either side till golden yellow just like french fries.

6. Once the radish fries are ready, add them to a paper towel so as to remove excess oil.

7. Serve hot, these radish fries just look exactly like french fries and is a very healthy form of snack. Should be served with tomato ketchup or tamarind chutney.
