Kulkuls and Kormolas

Ingredients

2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Rava or Semolina or Sooji
1/2 Cup Milk
2 Eggs Beaten
A Pinch Of Salt
5 Tbsps Sugar
1 Tbsp Butter / Ghee / Oil (Optional)
Oil For Deep Frying as per requirement
Paper Towels

Preparation

1. In a bowl mix the flour, rava and salt. In another bowl beat 2 eggs and add sugar to form a nice creamy mixture.

2. Now add the mixture of eggs and sugar to the dry ingredients of rava, salt and flour alternating with milk. Knead the mixture to form a nice smooth dough. You may add a tablespoon of butter or oil or ghee to the dough but I have not added here.

3. Now let the dough rest for an hour.

4. Now take a small ball from the dough and roll it out using a rolling pin.

Roll it out into a nice thin sheet. Then take a cutter or a knife cut strips vertically and horizontally to form small rectangles of the rolled out sheets.

5. To make Kormolas, join the two opposite edges of the rectangles and just press or twist the joint edges. Do the same with the rest of the rectangles.


Place all of these in a newspaper or a plate.A Newspaper or a paper can be spread out so that these kormolas can be placed once ready.

6. To make the kulkuls, take a small amount of dough, press it to the back of your fork, spread it out nicely over the ribs of the fork pressed, then roll it out nicely to get a nice curled rib shapes of the fork as shown in the images.

Again once these kulkuls are ready add them to a newspaper or a paper or a plate.

7. Once the kulukuls and kormolas are ready, heat the oil in a pan for deep frying. Once the oil is hot add the kulkuls and kormolas and fry until golden brown.

Now place them on a paper towel to remove excess amount of oil. Allow these to cool. Then add them to an airtight container. These sweets are crispy.

8. Kulkuls and Kormolas are mainly made for Christmas in Goa. A Very famous Goan Christmas sweet.It takes quite a long time to make this sweet, however its fun when making with family or friends around. Finally, the joy of Christmas lies in being together and making things together with your family and friends with a lot of love and enthusiasm.
