4 - 5 Tablespoons of Oil
2 - 3 Paper Towels
Servings / Time
4 Persons / 30 minutes
Preparation
1. I had 9 leftover idlis which were one day old, hardened a bit. So instead of throwing the idlis away, I decided to try out making idli fry.
Let us check out the steps involved. It is very simple. Instead of dip frying the idlis, I have shallow fried them.
2. Cut the idlis into medium sized strips, as shown in the picture. I have got around 36 strips of idlis.
3. Heat a pan with 4 - 5 tablespoons of oil, once the oil is hot add the idli strips one at a time.
Fry until a nice golden brown color is obtained. Fry uniformly on all the sides.
4. Once fried, place the strips of idlis on some paper towel, so that the extra oil is absorbed by the paper towel. Then place it on a plate.
5. Serve Hot with Idli Chutney or Tomato Chutney
