Ingredients

3 Tablespoons of Masoor Dal
1 Small Brinjal
5 - 6 small pieces of Pumpkin
3 - 4 small pieces of Drumsticks
2 Medium Sized Onions
2 - 3 cups of Water
3 - 4 Teaspoons of Tamarind Juice
1 Teaspoon of Chilly Powder
1 Tablespoon Sambhar Masala
1 Tablespoon Turmeric Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Strands of Curry Leaves
1/4th Teaspoon of Fenugreek (Methi)
1/2 Teaspoon of Mustard Seeds
2 Red Chillies
2 Tablespoons Oil

4 - 5 People / 45 Minutes

Preparation

1. Wash the dal and vegetables thoroughly well, cut the pumpkin, onions and brinjal into small or medium sized cubes. Cut the drumsticks into medium sized pieces.

2. Take a vessel add water, masoor dal, brinjal, onion, pumpkin and drumsticks and boil for 20 minutes.

3. Now add turmeric, tamarind juice, salt, sambhar masala and chilly powder. Boil for 2 minutes.

4. Now take a pan or a vessel separately to make the tadka, add oil and heat it.

5. Now add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chilies and fenugreek to the hot oil, once the mustard seeds are crisp put off the flame.

6. Now add this onto the boiled mixture of the dal and vegetables and boil for 5 minutes.

7. Serve hot with idlis, vadas, dosas, bread, roti or rice.
