Mackerel in Gravy
Ingredients
1 Onion
3 Tomatoes
1 Lime
1 Potato
2 Green Chillies
10 - 15 Pods of Garlic
1 Very Small Piece of Ginger
2 Tbsp Oil
1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Salt
2 Big Mackerel Fish
3/4 Cup of Water
3 Tomatoes
1 Lime
1 Potato
2 Green Chillies
10 - 15 Pods of Garlic
1 Very Small Piece of Ginger
2 Tbsp Oil
1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Salt
2 Big Mackerel Fish
3/4 Cup of Water
Servings / Time
4 Persons / 45 minutes
Preparation
1. Clean the mackerels, cut off the head and fins and remove the inner organs. Wash them clean, and cut into thick fat slices as in the picture.
2. Add salt, turmeric, and lime to the mackerel pieces and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
3. Mince the garlic and ginger, chop onion and tomatoes into fine pieces.
4. Slit the chilies and cut potatoes into thick round pieces.
5. Take a vessel and heat oil on medium flame. Add the ginger, garlic, onion, and chilies. Cook till onions are soft and translucent.
6. Now add the tomatoes, cook till a paste is formed.
7. Add water and potatoes, boil till potatoes are partially cooked.
8. Finally add the marinated mackerels, add more water if required and boil till mackerels are cooked.
9. Serve hot with rice or roti.
