Moong Dal in Gravy
Ingredients
3 Tablespoon Moong (Green Grams) dal
3 Tablespoon Oil
1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 and a half Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
1/2 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds or Jeera
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Strand of Curry Leaves
1 Onion
1 Tomato
2 Cups of Water
3 Tablespoon Oil
1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 and a half Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
1/2 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds or Jeera
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Strand of Curry Leaves
1 Onion
1 Tomato
2 Cups of Water
Servings /Time
3 persons / 40 minutes
Preparation
1. Cut onions and tomatoes into fine cubes. Boil dal separately in a vessel using one cup of water till soft.
2. Take a vessel, heat the oil, first add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds (jeera) and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds and cumin seeds begin to crackle add ginger garlic paste, onions and turmeric. Once the onions are soft and the ginger garlic aroma sets in, add the tomatoes. Cook for a minute until tomatoes are soft.
3. Now add the boiled dal along with 1 cup of water into the above mixture of onions and tomatoes. Cook for around 5 - 10 minutes. Add salt as per taste.
4. Serve hot with rice or rotis.
