Chapati
Ingredients
2 and a 1/2 Cups of Wheat Flour
1 Tablespoon Oil
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 or 3/4 Cup of water as per requirement
1 Tablespoon Oil
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 or 3/4 Cup of water as per requirement
Servings / Time
8 - 9 Medium Sized Chapatis / 30 minutes
Preparation
1. Take 2 cups of flour in a bowl, add oil to the flour.
2. Now add salt to the water, and mix the salt with the water. See to it that the salt dissolves in the water well.
3. Add this water to the flour, little by little. Knead the flour so as to form a soft dough.
4. Roll the dough into a cylinder, Cut equal eight or nine pieces from the dough.
5. Now take a rolling pin, add some flour and take each piece at a time.
6. Roll each piece evenly from all sides to form a round circular shape.
7. If the dough is sticky keep adding flour to the pieces so as not to stick to the roller.
8. Evenly spread the rolled dough so that they do not stick to each other. The Rolled Circular shaped dough can be placed on a plate. It needs to be dry and should not stick to each other.
9. Now heat a tava or a flat pan, once hot, roast the rolled dough as the above picture.
10. The chapatis can be placed into a casserole to keep them warm.
11. Apply cheese or butter and have for breakfast or it can be eaten with bhaji or as a roll.
12. Oil or Ghee can be applied while roasting.
Chapatis are very nutritive and healthy. Less Oil can be used when making if health conscious.
Having it for breakfast is very good. A spread can be added to it from the inside and it can be rolled and wrapped with a foil or a thin plastic film and taken to your workplace. It stays up fresh.
